Invest in USA

China Invests in America, LLC (CIIA) & School of Continuing Education of Tsinghua University, International Education & Training Center.

Program Overview

The stable and healthy development of Sino-US economic and trade relations accords with the long-term interest of the two countries since China, the largest developing country, and USA, the largest developed country, complement each other in human resources, marketing, capital and technology, etc. As a result of America’s open, global trade open policy, huge consumer market, transparent legal system, high-quality labor and favorable investment environment which encourage innovation, the U.S. has attracted immense foreign investment and many multinational companies which allows it to play a predominant role in global trade. In March 2006, the U.S. Department of Commerce set up a special initiative called “Invest in America.” This initiative is designed to further encourage at the US federal level the influx of foreign capital. “Going Global” is China’s national policy which encourages Chinese corporations to enter the world market. Slow investment Penetration in America, the largest global market can be attributed in part to an incomplete understanding of the U.S. investment environment, laws and statutes, corporate culture and commercial practice, as well as limited connections with the U.S. investment and business network.

Program Objective

With China’s entry into the WTO and speedy development of China’s economy, demand for overseas products and technology for Chinese enterprises and consumers is increasing steadily. Consequently, cross-national business activities are more and more frequently organized either by government or by non-government entities every year. The Tsinghua School of Continuing Education (SCE) customizes a program especially for U.S. Purchase & Investment Missions organized by the Ministry of Commerce (MofCom), as well as entrepreneurs and government officials interested in investing in the United States. The training program will provide students a general understanding of the American macro-economic environment, including laws and statutes, business opportunities, trade rules and cultural etiquette. Based on these, an investment plan can be assembled by the students and communication channels with U.S. federal and local government representatives can be established. In this way, Tsinghua SCE will fulfill its training function of helping Chinese entrepreneurs be successful in investing in the U.S. market.
